Wild Flowers in the Gardens (at Home)

The Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland (BSBI) have launched the 'Garden Wild Flower Hunt'. One of the Aims being to help them identify which Wild Flowers are growing in Private Gardens across Britain and Ireland. Introduced Wild Flowers are allowed: we initially thought this odd but upon reflection, it makes sense.

We have found:

Daisy (appeared naturally)
Dandelion (appeared naturall
Field Scabious (introduced)
Feverfew (appeared naturally)
Field Wood-Rush (appeared naturally)
Foxglove (appeared naturally)
Greater Knapweed (introduced)
Greater Willowherb (introduced)
Green Alkanet (appeared naturally)
Hare's-Foot Clover (introduced) viz.

Hop Trefoil (introduced via seed a few years ago)

Mind-your-own-Business (t'was by pure fortune that whilst in the Greenhouse attending to the Sedums &c., we happened to look down and see the Mind-your-own-Business which appeared naturally, many years ago)
Navelwort (a couple of months ago we found two Plants laying on the Ground beside the Wall where they grow in the Erith area and brought them Home) viz.


Orange Hawkweed (introduced a few years ago from Seed: now Self-Seeded)
Oxeye Daisy (introduced recently)
Perforate St John's-Wort (introduced)
Petty Spurge (appeared naturally)
Procumbent Pearlwort (appeared naturally: a single Plant)
Purple-Leaved Yellow-Sorrel (appeared naturally)

Red Dead-Nettle (introduced a few years ago)
Red Valerian (appeared naturally)
Reflexed Stonecrop (introduced)
Ribwort Plantain (appeared naturally: a single Plant)
Sand Lucerne (introduced three years or so ago from Seed) viz.


Sheep's Sorrel (introduced recently)
Shining Crane's-Bill (introduced recently)
Small Teasel (appeared naturally NB. on the Kent Rare Plant Register) viz.


Sow-Thistle, Common (appeared naturally)

We have potted some rooted Cuttings of Ivy-Leaved Toadflax (previously in water) and they seem to have taken.
