Birds Galore on the 'Patch'

On Friday (Yesterday) we toddled down to the River: walking along the Thames Path from the area off Corinthian Manorway upstream to the Footpath running down to Church Manorway and we then walked the couple of hundred yards or so to the small Lake.

We are ever hopeful of a Tufted Duck or Mute Swan turning up on the Lake (or even a Pochard) but nothing yet.

But we are certainly not downhearted. In addition to some of the resident Moorhens viz.

we were delighted to see that the Stonechat that took up Residence a few weeks ago is still present viz.

And whilst we were there a Grey Wagtail landed on the far side of the Lake.

We have been wondering about the possibility of a Snipe and it is possible one or two live there. But with thick Vegetation bordering the Lake and water around the edges we wonder how we might actually see one.

Birds seen by the River included:

Black-Tailed Godwits (there were around 400 or so Birds present) viz.

Redshanks (there were at least 180 Birds present) and a Curlew viz.

a Little Egret viz.

an assumed First Winter Lesser Black-Backed Gull viz.

Rock Pipit viz.

Long-Tailed Tits viz.

Mallards viz.

Black-Headed Gulls viz.

and Collared Doves, a Common GullDunlinsLinnets, a Pied Wagtail, a Robin, a couple of Shelducks and some Teals.

And we are keeping our eyes peeled as best we can in the hopes of a Black Redstart and are ever hopeful.
